March 20, 2013: Live Tweet Tasting a BCWine

HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:

Live Tweet Tasting a BC Wine

Tonight is a repeat of a chat we did last year and it was so successful we’d like to do it again.  Just got to a store, or to your cellar (or closet), choose a BCWine  and open it up from 8-9pm on Wednesday March 20.

Tweet your experience.  Review it or pair it with food, discuss it’s flavours and aromas, why you chose it, the label, the winery’s story, how you go the bottle–whatever.

You’re going to love this BCWineChat!

Getting Ready for #WBC13!

The Bloggers are Coming! The Bloggers are Coming!  Yes, it is true, the Wine Bloggers Conference is coming to Penticton in 2013 and we can’t be happier!  It all takes place from June 6-8 where our Valley will play host to a couple hundred wine blogging media–many of whom are just discovering our beautiful wines for the first time.

Find out what happens at #WBC13, whether or not you should attend, events that have been announced, how you can participate and how it will change the way the world looks at BC Wines.

Come with questions and come with answers if you have been lucky to attend other Wine Blogger’s Conferences.

How did #BCWineChat Affect Change in 2012?

HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:

How did #BCWineChat Affect Change in 2012?

What a great year it was to be on twitter and to be active on #BCWineChat!  This week let’s look at where we’ve been, what we achieved, what we fell short in achieving and what we still have yet to tackle for next year. Your participation in feedback is critical to keeping the chat going!

In 2012 we certainly didn’t shy away from heated POLITICAL issues: From Bill C-311 to allow for interprovincial wine shipments to corkage laws to regulations for charity donations to farmer’s markets to regulations across the entire   industry.  The chat was always looking critically at the issues facing our wine industry as asking “Why do we need these archaic liquor laws?”

We covered CONSUMER issues like the age-ability of BC wines, BC Bubbly, Cabernet Franc, best varieties to grow, wine touring tips, BBQ pairings and pricing of BC wines.

We looked at issues facing WINERIES such as vineyard and cellar operations, winery restaurants, events and highlighting various wine regions (such as Vancouver Island).

We’d love to expand next year to include more discussion from RETAILERSRESTAURANTS and REGULATORS but that an only happen if word gets out about the good thing we have going with the chat.

November 21, 2012: Media, Reviews and Competitions

HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:

Media, Reviews and Competitions

Do you follow what the wine media say?  Do you place more importance on “traditional” wine reviews or those from bloggers? Do competition results matter to you in how you choose a wine?  We’d love to hear from consumers this week on all things wine media related.  Wineries and retailers are encouraged as well to discuss their philosophy on submissions of wines to media and competitions.

See you at 8pm on Wednesday!

March 7 8-9pm PST: No Such Thing As A Stupid BC Wine Question

HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:

NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID BC WINE QUESTION

Here in BC we don’t take our wine too seriously.  We have great, enthusiastic customers, well-informed retailers, not too snobby restauranteurs and diverse winery folk. Everyone has  questions for one another that we have never had the courage to ask.

If there is a BC Wine question that has gnawed at you for some time, this is the chat hour for you.    Maybe you have a question for a people who sell BC wines, or for those who make them.  Perhaps some winemakers might have questions for the retailers?  Maybe the wine shop owners want to ask the consumers a question or two.

February 29 8-9pm PST: Your BC Wine Epiphany Moment

HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:

YOUR BC WINE EPIPHANY MOMENT

What was your BC wine epiphany moment?  Was there a BC wine that you enjoyed that helped you realize the great quality of wines out there?  Was there a place, a person, a restaurant, a wine store, a touring experience that introduced you to BC wines?  Or perhaps a time when you said to yourself, “I’m really surprised by how much I love this wine” or “I knew they could make white wines, but reds?”

Share with BCWineChat your epiphany moment(s) with BC wine.  It’s time to celebrate your love affair with some home grown goodness.

December 28 8-9pm PST: BC Wine Resolutions for 2012

HERE IS HOW THE CHAT WENT:

BC Wine Chat: BC Wine  Resolutions

Tell us what your BC Wine Resolution for 2012 is:

  • Is there a BC wine you’ve always wanted to try but for some reason (availability, price, etc) you have never had?
  • Maybe there is a BC wine touring region you have been itching to see
  • A government regulation or two you’d like to work at seeing eliminated
  • You want to expand your knowledge of BC wines and don’t know where to start.
  • You’re looking to change careers into, out of or within the BC wine industry

If you enjoy it.  If you grow it.  If you make it.  If you sell it.  This is the chat for you.
