This week’s chat is what is technically referred to a “a free for all”. On your mind? Let’s talk about it! Have a gripe, an “atta boy/girl” or a suggestion? Tonight’s your night on #BCWineChat

August 28, 2013: Favourite BC Wine and Music Matches
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
Favourite BCWine and Music Matches
Sit back put on your favourite music, open up your favourite BCWine and tweet. That’s pretty well it. You’ve heard of food and wine pairing but this week it’s wine and music pairing and we’re looking forward to hearing your thought!

If I Could Tell the #WBC13 Wine Bloggers One Great Thing About Our BC Wine Industry it Would Be… (feed lost)
The Wine Blogger’s are here! The Wine Blogger’s are here! A wonderful group of enthusiastic wine, food and travel bloggers are descending on Penticton this week and here’s your chance to encapsulate in one location your best thing (or things) about the BC Wine industry. Sure, it’s always easier to gripe and moan about how we can make our industry better, but here’s your time to tell people who don’t know a lot about our area why we love what we do and where we do it.
Consumers, retailers, restaurants, and wineries! Why you love this place, its people and these wines? We’ll package it up pretty for the Wine Bloggers for reading later so think about it and then tweet it.
May 29, 2013: BC Blends
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
White and red blends in BC are everywhere–you almost wonder if there is such a thing as a single varietal wine. Tonight we talk about blending considerations, great blends out there and motivations for why winemakers blend different grapes together.
Join us at 8-9pm on Wednesday!
May 15, 2013: All About Oak
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
Why do winemakers put their wines in oak? What does oak bring to a wine and how can it help and hurt a wine? From the geeky winemakers discussing which oak they prefer for which wines to the controversy over whether a wine should age in oak at all…every person seems to have an opinion when it comes to wine + oak. Bring it to the chat tonight!
May 8, 2013: What is Canadian Wine Culture?
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
What is Canadian Wine Culture?
It’s a simple question but probably not that easy to answer. What is Canadian Wine Culture? Do we have one? Are there things that are similar and unifying between the areas of our country that make wine or are we just too vast a country to have similarities?
Tonight’s chat is our first combined chat with both #BCWineChat and #ONWineChat and because of this, it will last for 2 full hours! 7-9pm PST. Pop in at some time during those hours and give us your thoughts.
April 17, 2013: Okanagan Valley = Bordeaux | Cowichan Valley = Burgundy | Discuss
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
Okanagan Valley = Bordeaux | Cowichan Valley = Burgundy | Discuss
This topic was chosen by Andy @averillcreek to get the conversation rolling about which varieties are best grown where. Certainly we are not Bordeaux and Burgundy in BC–we are BC–but we certainly should be talking about what grapes come from which areas of our province and how that relates to the flavours you get in the bottle.
Should be a fun chat! Join us Wednesday April 17th at 8PM!
April 3, 2013: BC Riesling!
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
One of the best varieties in BC is Riesling–they are fresh, crisp and juicy. They are also some of the most food friendly wines that BC makes.
Get yourself a long, tall bottle of Riesling from BC (dry, off dry or sweet) and join the chat. You will, no doubt, learn a great deal–and have fun too.
March 27, 2013: Syrah!
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
We’re going to tweet about all things Syrah, and more specifically BC Syrah. Come with questions about the variety (also called Shiraz), its growing conditions, areas of BC that are well suited for it, wine styles and whether you think it is a BC star varietal or not.
If you don’t come with questions, come with answers because there are a lot of people out there that would love to find out more about this varietal. Pull up your favourite bottle (or glass) of Syrah from BC and join in on the chat!
March 20, 2013: Live Tweet Tasting a BCWine
HERE’S HOW THE CHAT WENT:
Tonight is a repeat of a chat we did last year and it was so successful we’d like to do it again. Just got to a store, or to your cellar (or closet), choose a BCWine and open it up from 8-9pm on Wednesday March 20.
Tweet your experience. Review it or pair it with food, discuss it’s flavours and aromas, why you chose it, the label, the winery’s story, how you go the bottle–whatever.
You’re going to love this BCWineChat!
